This is a lovely gold plated brass match safe or vesta, circa 1880. It is decorated on both sides with a scrolling chevron design. It is in excellent condition, having on the closest inspection only the slightest bit of wear to the gold plate on the relief high points, exposing the duller brass base metal. There are no dents or dings and the hinge is in perfect condition; the lid closing with a snap.

It measures 2 1/2" x 1 1/8" x 3/8".
