English Sterling Silver Arts and Crafts Belt, Circa 1911
This beautiful Sterling Silver belt was made during the Arts and Crafts Movement, circa 1911, in Birmingham England. The belt is made of 18 small segments of silver that are each decorates with a center flower and a symmetrical diamond inside of a square design. Nature was an important source of Arts and Crafts motifs, and the floral decorative pattern on this belt was perhaps inspired by the flowers of the British countryside. The small segments are linked together with hand-made silver links, which add up to a total length of 28 inches. The center buckle is 2-3/8 of an inch, and this silver segment has a more elaborate floral pattern than the other segments. The belt closes securely with a hook, and it can be worn by a 28 inch waist. A really great look for a contemporary romantic or bohemian outfit. This belt is gorgeous, both a wonderful antique and a true gem, but also very stylish with a contemporary outfit. The sterling silver belt has the silver marks of British Sterling, the English Birmingham hallmarks and the maker F.H.A Limited, (registered Jul 1909). FH Adams used this mark between 1908 and 1915, when he worked from New John Street. The belt weighs 125 grams and is in perfect condition.
