This is a stunning Early Victorian Locket with a central pearl flower motif.  Five 3mm pearls are set in a carved flower design. A delicate gold halo surrounds each pearl creating the flower outline. In the center is a 1.75mm ruby that is colett set and slightly raised. Gold leaves encircled the oval border.  The pale green enamel is amazing and adds a pop of color that is fresh and spring like. The piece was crafted by a skilled jeweler and is very special.

The back of the piece is a locket and currently has plaited brown hair in a beautiful weave. This is perhaps a mothers locket holding the hair of her child. Not a mourning piece as the color and flower make it a celebration of the living.  

The locket is 1" x 3/4" x 3/8", the bale has an opening of 6mm, it weighs 5.6 grams and has been tested to be 14 karat gold.  

This piece is dates to about 1840 meaning the pearls and ruby are natural and rare treasures of their day.
