This Victorian locket was recently sourced on a trip to Prague. It bears Austro-Hungarian marks. We found it as an empty locket, but because of its depth, we knew it’d be perfect as a shaker pendant. We took 1.1 carats of natural round cut 1.5 mm rubies and filled the locket about halfway. What we love about a shaker pendant—especially one with rubies—is the movement it holds, which feels magical and reminds us of a snow globe. We chose two different colors of rubies so that there is a flash of color and sparkle that comes from the layered tones of red.Â
The locket measures 1” across and has a 6 x 8 mm bail. It weighs 9.6 grams. It is marked on the bail with the Austro-Hungarian mark for 14k gold.Â
